Fashion designer, 39-year-old Bale Kareem, who allegedly assaulted a policewoman, was on Friday released on bail in the sum of N10, 000 on the orders of an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. Sule-Amzat, who gave the ruling, also granted the accused one surety in like sum, whose address must be verified.

The accused, who resides at Ore-Ofe St, Agility II in Mile 12 area of Lagos, is facing a charge of assault to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Ihiehie Lucky told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 6 at Mile 12 Police Post. Lucky said the complainant, Insp. James Ebun, attached to the Mile 12 Police Post, reported the incident at the Charge Room of the station.
“The inspector was assaulted by the accused and injured her while performing her lawful duty on June 6 at 1.00 p.m.
“A woman, Mrs Afilaka Bolade, a shop owner at Mile 12 came to the police post to report a case of assault and misconduct against the accused.
“The accused was invited to the station and after listening to the woman’s complaint, the inspector wanted to take the accused to the officer-in-charge.
“In the process, the accused wanted to escape from the station and as she tried to prevent him, he slapped her.
“As he was trying to beat the inspector her colleagues came to her rescue,” he said. The offences contravened Sections 172 (b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised). The case was adjourned until June 13.
