Duterte needs ‘psychiatric evaluation’, says UN chief

The UN’s human rights chief has attacked the President of the Philippines – claiming he needs “psychiatric evaluation”.
Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein criticised Rodrigo Duterte after the controversial leader launched profanity-laced diatribes against UN officials.

Mr Duterte has reportedly filed terrorism charges against one UN envoy, and threatened to slap another who had criticised his campaign against illegal drugs.
Police have killed more than 4,100 drug suspects, but rights groups allege more than 8,000 others have been murdered in what they describe as crimes against humanity.
Mr Zeid said Mr Duterte’s behaviour “makes one believe that the President of the Philippines needs to submit himself to some sort of psychiatric evaluation”.
He told reporters: “These attacks cannot go unanswered.”
