The rustic town of Okpoma, Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State was Tuesday thrown into mourning as a woman, identified as Alice, allegedly clubbed a man, Ogar Olaje, to death during a brawl with her husband.
It was gathered that the woman’s husband, a commercial motorcycle rider, was engaged in a fight with Ogar, also an Okada rider, following a disagreement over whose turn it was to pick a passenger from Okpoma to the next community, Okuku when the incident happened.

An eyewitness, who gave his name as Tom, said the two men were friends , but on Tuesday, an argument ensued between them which resulted in a fight and the woman became enraged when she saw that the other man had an upper hand over her husband.
She reportedly grabbed a stick with which she hit the man fighting her husband on the head causing him to fall to the ground and passed out. “When the woman realised what she had done, she ran away and nobody has seen her since Tuesday, but the husband has been arrested by the police from Kopma Police Station,” Tom said.
He said the man was rushed to the hospital but died shortly on arrival at the hospital.
Ms Irene Ugbo, the Cross River Police spokesman, said she was yet to be briefed on the matter but a source at the Okpoma police station said the man has been arrested while a search is being mounted to get the assailant.
