Barack and Michelle Obama ‘to produce TV shows for Netflix’


What major move does one make after being US President for eight years?
For Barack Obama and wife, Michelle, it may likely be story-telling.

According to the New York Times, the former US president and wife and in advanced talks to produce a series of high-profile shows for Netflix.
The report says Netflix would pay Barack and Michelle for exclusive content that would be available only on the streaming service.
The proposed shows are expected to feature inspirational stories which will be helmed by the former president while his wife may anchor a program on topics like nutrition.
Other possible show ideas for the former president may be moderating debates that centre on issues such as health care, climate change and immigration.
Eric Schultz, a senior adviser to the former president, told the newspaper that: “President and Mrs Obama have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire.
“Throughout their lives, they have lifted up stories of people whose efforts to make a difference are quietly changing the world for the better.
“As they consider their future personal plans, they continue to explore new ways to help others tell and share their stories.”
Netflix, a popular US streaming service, recorded 118 million subscribers from around the world at the end of 2017.
