A woman flying from Portland to Sacramento was arrested after she threatened to kill everyone aboard the flight.

Valerie Curbelo of Sandy, Ore., was taken into custody on Saturday for making threats on a Southwest Airlines flight.

Nigeria lost $32bn to corruption under Jonathan – DFID

About $32bn was lost to corruption during the six-year administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development said on Monday.

The agency said the huge amount represented 16 per cent of the previous government’s resources that could have been channeled to development.

Members of the Ibadan Council of Obas yesterday issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, to reconcile his activities with the provisions of the Olubadan Chieftaincy Review or face vote of no confidence from them.

Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court, sitting in Lagos, has sentenced and convicted a 35-year-old Cote d’Ivoire-based Nigerian, Grou Bi Clauvis, also known as Umeme Fabian Lotachukwu to 10 years imprisonment for unlawful dealing in 1.205 kilograms of methamphetamine, a prohibited drug. NDLEA officials had on March 27th this year apprehended Lotachukwu at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos State, during outward clearance of passengers on Qatar Airways flight to Doha, Qatar, with 1.205 kilograms of methamphetamine, a psychotropic substance.

‘People still leak information about troops to Boko Haram’

The new Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj-Gen Rogers Nicholas has disclosed that some people still leak information to Boko Haram on locations of troops in the region.

Baby, mother detained in Ondo hospital over N40,000 bill

An Okada rider,  Oladapo Omotoso, narrated yesterday how his newborn baby Temitope Omotoso,  and her mother,  Taiwo, were “detained” for 22 days by the  Management of the Ondo state-owned Mother and Child Hospital for his inability to offset N40,000 hospital bill.

Baby Temitope was given birth to in the government hospital, solely for the delivery of babies and taking care of children under age five,  through caesarean operation.

An Awka High Court, presided over by Justice Dennis Mmaduechesi on Monday adjourned till March 12, 2018 for a pre-trial conference on a matter involving  Bianca, the widow of the late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and others over the family property.

The case involved the sharing of the late Sir Louis Ojukwu’s property.
