Victor Valdes is set to have a medical at Liverpool after the Reds agreed terms on a deal to sign the former Barcelona goalkeeper.
Valdes has been without a club since leaving Barca at the end of last season, and after his switch to Monaco collapsed because of fitness concerns, Liverpool have moved in.
Talks have been underway for days over a deal, and now AS newspaper confirms an agreement has been reached on a contract, with Valdes set to undergo a medical before signing the contract.
Brendan Rodgers has ordered a thorough test for Valdes, who has been nursing anterior cruciate ligament damage, which has ruled him out since March.
Liverpool have left space for the 32-year-old in their 25-man squad and are able to sign him outside of the transfer window as he is a free agent.
It’s thought that the Spain international has agreed a two-year contract and he will go head-to-head with first-choice Simon Mignolet to be the Reds’ regular shot-stopper.
