Arab sentenced to death for killing pregnant wife

A man who murdered his wife on suspicion of sleeping with another man has been sentenced to death.

A man who slaughtered his pregnant wife in Abu Dhabi before fleeing to Bahrain, has been sentenced to death by a Court of Cassation, overturning a previous court ruling for 10 years in prison.
Emirates247 reports that the court found the defendant guilty of murder of his wife and causing a miscarriage, after he confessed to the crime.

He was sentenced him to death after the wife’s relatives rejected 'diya' (blood money) and insisted on the killer’s death in line with Sharia (Islamic law).
The defendant had allegedly confessed to the police that he stabbed his wife after suspecting she was impregnated by another man and because of her refusal to abort the baby.
He then drove her car to an area near Abu Dhabi airport and dumped it there. He then took a taxi and headed for the airport for a flight to Bahrain.
In Bahrain, the man was arrested and repatriated to Abu Dhabi after his wife’s family discovered the crime and informed the police.
