Augsburg defender Ragnar Klavan is due to have his medical on Tuesday morning ahead of his switch to Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp will pay £4.2million for the defender, who will replace Martin Skrtel at back, report the Liverpool Echo.
Liverpool's manager has identified the Estonian international as the man to come in and strengthen his central defensive options following injuries to Mamadou Sakho and Joe Gomez, and Tiago Ilori’s Olympic Games call-up.
Thirty-year-old Klavan has won more than 100 caps for his country, and has spent four years with Augsburg in the Bundesliga, helping the unfashionable club to qualify for the Europa League in 2014/15.
He featured in both legs as Augsburg met Liverpool in a last 32 tie back in February, and is set to become the club’s fifth new arrival this summer, following Loris Karius, Sadio Mane, Marko Grujic and Joel Matip, the latter two having agreed their moves in January.
Liverpool play Huddersfield in a friendly match on Wednesday night, but it is unlikely that Klavan would be involved in that even if he were to sign in time.
Klopp and his squad fly to California for the first leg of their US tour in the early hours of Thursday.
Liverpool take on Chelsea in Pasadena on July 28, before games against AC Milan in Santa Clara on July 31 and Roma in St Louis on August 2.
