Monaco’s Mbappe obsessed with winning Champions League

Monaco’s Mbappe obsessed with winning Champions League

Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe has prioritised team success over individual glory, revealing on Sunday he is obsessed with winning the Champions League.
Mbappe has reportedly rejected the advances of some of Europe’s top clubs this summer, including Champions League winners Real Madrid as well as Premier league sides Manchester City and Liverpool.

The 18-year-old Mbappe led Monaco to the semifinals of the competition last season before falling to eventual runners-up Juventus, and told Telefoot he values a UCL trophy over one day winning the Ballon d’Or, which is given to the year’s best player.
“[The Champions League] is a dream, a competition that everyone wants to win and that only a minority can win — the most important are the titles,” Mbappe said.
“That would be much more of an obsession for me than the Ballon d’Or, for example. I want to touch the stars and, when you dream, you do not dream of playing the middle of the table or maintaining it.”
Mpabbe scored 26 goals and provide 14 assists in a breakout campaign that resulted in his first call-ups for his country. And he says he’s eager to represent France at next summer’s World Cup in Russia.
“[The 2018 World Cup] is the number one goal at international level,” he added. “As I always say, dreams are good but it’s up to me to work for them.”
