A teenager has been accused of killing her two young children after allegedly leaving them in a hot car to go and party with friends.

Amanda Hawkins, 19, from Kerr County, Texas, was said to have left her daughters in the car overnight on Tuesday and apparently ignored them when they cried out, Fox 29 reported.

She eventually retrieved Brynn Hawkins, one, and Addyson Overgard-Eddy, two, the next day but they were already unconscious after having to cope with temperatures of more than 33C.

But instead of immediately taking them to the hospital police said she waited because she was scared she would be blamed.
Hawkins did eventually taken them to doctors but the toddlers died on Thursday.

‘This is by far the most horrific case of child endangerment that I have seen in the 37 years that I have been in law enforcement,’ Kerr County Sheriff Rusty Hierholzer said.
He added in the statement a male friend of Hawkins had slept in the vehicle outside a residence in Riverside Drive but did nothing to help the children.

Police said she had originally told them the children fell unconscious after smelling flowers but later confessed she had left them in her car for at least 15 hours.

Hawkins was arrested and charged with abandoning or endangering a child for each of her kids.
These charges could be upgraded but at the moment she faces a maximum of two years if convicted.
She will have to post a $70,000 (£54,000) bond before she is released from jail.
