Tottenham have reportedly rejected the chance to sign Leicester City winger and top Arsenal transfer target Riyad Mahrez, though the Gunners face fresh competition from Juventus.
The 26-year-old has made it known that he wants out of the King Power Stadium this summer, with Arsenal rumoured to be among the clubs leading the chase for his signature.
However, the Daily Mirror claim that Spurs would rather sign his Leicester team-mate Demarai Gray, and have pulled out of the race for the time being.
Unfortunately for Arsenal, they face a fresh rival for Mahrez’s signature in the form of Juventus, who are now said to be considering him as an alternative to Bayern Munich wide-man Douglas Costa.
Tottenham’s interest in Gray is also complicated, however, as they are not willing to pay his £22million release clause.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will surely be pleased by having less competition for Mahrez, however, having recently hinted he would be lining up a bid for him this summer.
‘Have we made a bid for him? No. Not yet,’ he said last week. ‘Not yet means it could happen, it could not happen.’
