Man had sex with dead girlfriend in the hope it would wake her up

A man who had sex with his dead girlfriend said that he did it because he wanted to wake her up. A court heard that Aaron Graser claimed he heard gurgling when he tied her legs and arms to bedposts before having sex, but the sound is likely to have been gases escaping from her body.


He told police in Willimantic, Connecticut, he knew his girlfriend ‘hated having sex with him’ and thought this would wake her up and tying her to the bedpost was a fetish. When she remained dead after sexual intercourse 39-year-old Graser called his neighbour, a former paramedic. The Hartford Courant reported Glaser told police officers he had sex with the corpse after they asked about ligatures found on her wrists. The warrant for his arrest said: ‘Aaron stated he listened to see if the victim was breathing and he heard gurgling.

‘Aaron stated he knew the victim hated having sex with him so he figured that the victim might wake up if he had sex with her.’ The woman’s autopsy found she had died of a drug overdose, found high levels of fentanyl, heroin and another synthetic drug in her blood and she had been dead several hours before he had sex with her. A medical officer also told police the gurgling sounds were probably gases escaping from the body. Initially charged with second-degree sexual assault Graser pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of fourth-degree sexual assault of a corpse. He was jailed for a year but the judge ruled he did not have to be added to sexual offenders list.
