Amnesty calls for release of Daily Trust Journalist, Musa Abudllahi Krishi

Amnesty International has called on Nigeria police to release the arrested Daily Trust journalist, Musa Abudllahi Krishi, who has been reportedly whisked away to Jigawa state. Amnesty in a statement released on Tuesday condemned the act of abducting journalists in Nigeria. See statement below…

“Amnesty International is calling on Nigeria Police to release journalist, Musa Abudllahi Krishi, who was picked up by heavily armed police men. His arrest is outrageous coming just a week after the ordeal of another journalist Tony Ezimakor in the custody of DSS.

We condemn all kinds of intimidation of the press and journalists and call on authorities to stop security agents from harassing journalists through unlawful arrests and threats.

This disturbing trend of arresting journalists and unlawfully detaining them must stop. Journalism is not a crime and any attempt to harass journalists undermines freedom of the press.”
