The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today arraigned the trio of Onukaogu Onyinyechi Esther, Ebenuwa Chinazo Jennifer and Onukaogu Joshua before Justice A. S. Adepoju of the FCT High court sitting in Wuse, Abuja, on a 13-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence.

Esther allegedly abused her office while being a staff of Soft Alliance, consultants to the office of the Auditor General of the Federation on IPPIS between 2012 and 2013, to input her name and two of her siblings (Jennifer and Joshua) into the IPPIS database as staff of Federal Ministry of Education and Federal Ministry of Works respectively, for the purpose of receiving salaries from the federal government.

Pregnant teenager involved in a car crash gives birth at the roadside just moments before dying of her injuries


Joanna Delgado, 18, of Kerman, California, gave birth by the roadside immediately after she was involved in a head-on car crash on Sunday night. The teenager died just after delivering her baby girl via c-section at the crash site while the baby died a day later in the hospital in California.

World’s richest arms dealer Khashoggi dies aged 82


Saudi arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi , a businessman once worth billions and renowned for his lavish lifestyle, has died at the age of 82, his family said.

Hailed for his “elegance, strength and dignity” by loved ones, the tycoon, the uncle of Dodi Fayed, was said to have been undergoing treatment for Parkinson’s Disease.

He died in London on Tuesday, according to a family statement.

Police on Friday, June 2, arrested a Nigerian man at Delhi's Indira Gandhi Airport for 'black dollar scam' and forgery. 

Officials said that the man identified as Gabriel Blessing Efe, was trying to travel to Kolkata and Bhubaneswar on forged documents. 

For those who don't know, a black dollar scam is a trick where con artists attempt to obtain money by duping their victim by persuading them that a bundle of banknote-sized paper are actually currency notes that have been dyed to avoid detection, and can be brought back to original dollars if treated with a particular chemical.

Biafra Television Now Broadcasting Illegally in Nigeria - NBC Opens on Pro-IPOB TV Station


While speaking with journalists at an interactive session in Ilorin, Kwara state on Tuesday, Is’haq Modibbo Kawu, the director-general of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), revealed that a media station, Biafra Television, is transmitting illegally on Nigeria airwaves.
 
Kawu who revealed that the TV station is purportedly owned by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), also said the Boko Haram insurgent group had commenced radio transmission via a station located between Nigerian and Cameroonian borders .

Three Dare-devil Armed Robbers Caught After Native Charms Failed Them During Operation in Lagos


Three dare-devil armed robbers who reportedly procured a native charms to enhance their operation  have been arrested by the police during one of their operations in Lagos, according to a report by PM Express.
 
The suspects were identified as Michael Eyen,30, Aina Adebasha, 35 and Olatunji Sunday 25. They were arrested at Orisumbare Phase 1 in Ayobo, Ipaja, a suburb of Lagos. They had attempted to dismantle a new transformer installed in the area to sell.

Mallam Abdulmumuni Mohammed, a village head, and six others have been killed in a flood that caused havoc in Mashegu and Borgu local government areas of Niger state, The Nation reports.

Officials and players of the Osun United Football Club of Osogbo, were on on Wednesday morning, attacked by some armed robbers on Ore-Ondo Expressway, while the team was travelling to Osogbo from Calabar where they honoured their Week 14 Nigeria National League competition.
 
According to a report by Punch Metro, the vehicle in which the team was travelling developed a fault few kilometers to Ondo town, and as the vehicle stopped to see what the problem was, about armed men reportedly came out from the bush and attacked the footballers.

Eight people have been killed and thousands rendered homeless due to a violent storm that swept through the South African city of Cape Town.
 
The storm had been sequel to months of drought. Officials said a family of four, including four-year-old twins, died in the suburb of Kraaifontein after lightning set their house on fire.

EFCC Arraigns Female INEC Commissioner Over N185.5 Million Scam


A former Rivers State’s Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Gesila Khan Okubama, was on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, at a Federal High Court, sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State over N185.8 million scam.

The Commissioner, together with one other official, Peter Popnen, was arraigned before Justice Salihu Saidu on a five-count charge bordering on gratification and money laundering to the tune of N185, 842,000k( One Hundred and Eighty Five Million, Eight Hundred and Forty Two Thousand Naira only).

Man kills wife over N4,000 housekeep allowance


The Kogi State Police Command on Wednesday paraded some suspected criminals including one Abdullahi Garba who allegedly stabbed his wife to death over housekeep allowance.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Yahaya Abubakar, who stood in for his boss, Wilson Inalegwu, said detectives from the Homicide Section of the Okehi Police Division, Okehi Local Government Area of the state, arrested the suspect over the murder of his wife, Falilat Saka Garba (29).

Senate confirms 82-year-old, two others as ambassadors


The Senate has confirmed 82-year-old Sylvanus Nsofor nominated as a non-career ambassador by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The upper chamber had earlier rejected Nsofor twice due to a report by the Department of State Services (DSS).
It also confirmed Joseph Igi and Yusuf Hinna as ambassadors.
