'Alleged Boko Haram Attack On TB Joshua's Synagogue Church Is Baseless' - Commissioner Of Police

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Manko, yesterday, described as baseless, claims that some members of Boko Haram sect attempted to blow up Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOA, located in Ikotun area of Lagos.

He has also charged the newly-promoted 577 officers in the command to remain dedicated to their constitutional responsibility with a view to justifying their new ranks.

He spoke at the decoration of the newly-promoted officers, saying the command had no fact yet to ascertain the purported confession by a man, simply identified as Mustapha, that he and four others were sent to plant a bomb at SCOA.

Manko said it was the first time a large number of policemen were promoted, describing it as a fulfillment of one of the Inspector-General of Police’s promises of pursuing the welfare of policemen.

He reminded the officers that the promotion was added responsibility, enjoining them to be loyal and committed to the service.

A total of 16 Superintendents of Police, were promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police; 42 Deputy Superintendents of Police were promoted to Superintendent of Police; 102 Assistant Superintendents of Police were promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, while 417 Inspectors were promoted to Assistant Superintendents.
