                Senator Simeon Olasunkanmi Oduoye Dies At 69

A former Military Administrator of Niger and Ebonyi States, Senator Simeon Olasunkanmi Oduoye, is dead.
According to a family source, Oduoye, 69, died at his GRA residence in Osogbo, Osun State on Friday evening.

Oduoye, former Vice-Chairman, Senate committee on Police Affairs, represented Osun Central senatorial district on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party from 2003 to 2007.
Oduoye, who ventured into politics after retiring in 1999 as as an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), was born in Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State.

He contested the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state in 2003 but lost out to Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who ruled the state from 2003 to November 2010.
Confirming his father’s death, the eldest son, Mr. Kayode Oduoye, said he had been ill for sometime.

He disclosed that his father, who was planning his 69th birthday celebration, died inside his bedroom at his Osogbo residence.
He said the family would soon meet to discuss on the details of his burial.
