That is according to Italian
football journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, who claims the Serie A club
have no interest in a player-plus-cash deal involving
Olivier Giroud.
Arsene
Wenger is on the hunt for a new forward and has already missed out on Leicester hotshot Jamie Vardy.
Higuain
fits the bill after hitting a Serie A record 36 league goals last season for
Napoli and has snubbed a contract extension.
He has a £79.2m (€94m) release
clause in his current deal but Giulianelli believes Napoli will sell for £60m
(€70m) plus £6.7m (€8m) in bonuses.
"Higuain's
agent (his brother) has already agreed with Arsenal a
wage of €9m for 5 yrs,"Giulianelli tweeted.
"Bid
to Napoli not officially done yet but expected.
"Napoli unlikely will
accept the offer of 60m + Giroud: they want all cash, 70m + 8m easy bonus."
Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette is another striker on Wenger's radar but
the French club's owner Jean-Michel Aulas has insisted he is staying put.
