According to the Daily Record, Jose Mourinho will continue on his rebuilding of Manchester United’s current team by selling Juan Mata, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind this summer.
Since being appointed as Manchester United manager, Mourinho has already put his stamp on the side by signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer, Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund and Eric Bailly from Villarreal. Also the manager recently admitted that he has one more signing to make before he feels his side is ready – that signing being Paul Pogba, according to the media. The Juventus midfielder has been rumoured to be Mourinho’s final piece of the jigsaw and is expected to cost Manchester United £100 million if he is to join.
However, it is now reported the Portuguese man could become frustrated at how long the club is taking to move on the players he no longer wants, something that could jeopardise his pre-season plans also.
Mata, who was a club-record signing at the time (£37.1 million) from Mourinho’s Chelsea in January 2014, is expected to be sold by the manager once again, especially since the club have signed Mkhitaryan.
As for Schweinsteiger, Rojo and Blind, who all arrived during Louis van Gaal’s two-year stint at the club, they could be deemed surplus to requirements too.
