Alexis Sanchez has dealt Chelsea and Manchester City a major blow by picking Bayern Munich as his preferred destination this summer, according to reports in France.
Le Parisien claims that the Arsenal forward’s order of preference is: Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and then Inter.
It’s reported that while Sanchez is tempted by the prospect of linking up with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, a move to Bayern would offer him the best compromise between winning trophies and financial rewards.
Sanchez has already decided that he will leave Arsenal this summer and will not sign an extension on his current deal, which will have one year remaining at the end of the season.
Arsenal will hold out for a €40 million (£33.7m) fee, despite Arsene Wenger publicly stating that he will not allow the club to sell the 28-year-old.
PSG have made the signing of Sanchez their top priority for the summer, and have made Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang their alternative plan if they miss out on the Chilean.
Speaking about his future earlier this week, Sanchez indicated that he will never be a ‘truly great’ player unless he is winning league titles.
‘What I want to do now is to finish the season well and then I will sit down with the club to decide what I’m going to do,’ he told Sky Sports.
‘I’m very happy about [my goal record], but, as always, I demand more from myself.
‘I think that if a player wants to be at the very top, he needs to win the Champions League and league titles. That’s what makes the great players truly great.’
