Kelechi Iheanacho is not a world class striker and therefore, not what the Super Eagles need to become world beaters, this is according to former Nigeria striker Benedict Akwuegbu.
The Super Eagles look poised to make another World Cup appearance as they currently top their 2018 World Cup qualifying group, but despite admitting that the Super Eagles have shown remarkable improvements under Gernot Rohr, Akwuegbu is still of the opinion that a world class striker and that striker isn’t Iheanacho.
“We need a world-class striker, who scores regularly. Iheanacho is a good striker, but we need a world-class striker if we really want a team who can conquer the world,” he said.
“We will also need a good central midfielder to organise the play and a good right fullback.
“The Eagles are doing well, better than what they used to be, but we are yet to get the team who will take on the world.”
