31-year-old Adenike Okuneye pictured above, has been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate court for allegedly parading herself as a staff of Fidelity Bank, months after she had been sacked and collecting money from customers of the bank with the pretext of saving it for them in the bank but ended up converting it to her personal use.

The Prosecutor, Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the management of the bank had laid a complaint to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Lion Building Division, Lagos Island, Lagos, after it discovered the fraud she was perpetrating. On the order of the DPO, CSP Folashade Tanaruno, the suspect who resides in Mushin was arrested.

The unsuspecting bank customers would then oblige her because they had known her to be working in the bank. Adenike would afterwards disappear with their money.

The prosecuting officer said that nemesis caught up with her when one of the aggrieved customers of the bank who knew that the accused was no longer with the Fidelity Bank reported her to the bank leading to her arrest.

Osuji said that the offence the accused committed was punishable under sections 72, 314 (A) and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

When she was arraigned, Adenike pleaded not guilty to the alleged crime. The magistrate, S.K Matepo, granted her bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till October 9th, 2017 for mention.
