The commission said the officer, whose identity was not disclosed, shot and killed an innocent citizen in Igboeze South Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The commission also revealed that the officer after killing his victim planted a gun on him and labeled him an armed robber.

.
This was contained in a statement in Abuja yesterday by the commission’s spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani.
.
The statement reads: “Police Service Commission has approved the dismissal of a Chief Superintendent of Police for unlawful exercise of authority, discreditable conduct and for raising a false report. The commission also approved the reinstatement of a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, two Corporals and a Constable, just as it approved the punishment of another CSP, and two Assistant Superintendents of Police, ASP, for various offences unbecoming of their respective offices.”
.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State police boss, Imohimi Edgal, has arrested 10 policemen for extortion and other related offences. The officers were arrested by the X-Squad, a special unit of the command responsible for calling errant officers to order.
.
According to Imohimi, who made the disclosure, “the X-Squad unit has intensified activities to ensure zero tolerance to corruption and unruly practices by police officers and men of the Lagos police command. Nine policemen and a Senior Traffic Warden alongside two of their accomplices popularly known as ‘Camp Boys’ or ‘Antelopes’ were arrested between September 1 to 18, 2017.
.
“One of the camp boys, identified as Taofik Ismaila, was arrested along Ikotun road on September 8, along with some unscrupulous policemen, who were caught extorting money from innocent motorists.
.
“The policemen are presently undergoing departmental orderly room trial to ensure a total purging of the bad eggs, while their civilian accomplices are being charged to court for related offences.”
.
The Commissioner of Police has further directed that the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and their Divisional Traffic counterparts of the affected areas be issued query for lack of supervision and disobedience to lawful orders.
.
He urged all executives and members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to warn their members from being used by unscrupulous policemen as tools and agents of extortion against members of the public.
