Mikel Obi ‘Frustrated And Sad’ He Will Miss Nigeria-Serbia Friendly


Super Eagles and Tianjin TEDA midfielder, Mikel John Obi has revealed that he is ‘sad and frustrated not to be part of Nigeria’s international friendly match against Serbia on Tuesday.

Gernot Rohr revealed during the pre-match conference for the Poland friendly that his uncontested leader will not be making the party due to visa problem.



“We have a team but we need a leader and John Obi Mikel is our uncontested leader, it will be interesting to see how the other players can do without him, unfortunately, he had this visa problem in China which means he could go out but not come back so it was a problem.”

And just like Sportlineng.com reported yesterday, that Mikel John Obi will not be adding to his 82 Super Eagles cap when Nigeria t9ackle Serbia on Tuesday due to the same reason why he missed the Friday match against Poland.

The midfielder who has been following the team’s preparation and success from his base in China has revealed how gutted he is missing the Tuesday clash.

“Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control, I will not be on the field for our game v Serbia tomorrow,” wrote the former Chelsea midfielder on his official Twitter page.

“I am sad, and frustrated, but giving my full support to the team for another WIN!.”

Mikel Obi will be missing the opportunity to link up with his former Chelsea teammates, Branislav Ivanovic and Nemanja Matic. The match will be played at The Hive, Canons Park by 8pm Nigerian time.
