The 24 year-old defender who won a bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil made this assertion after confirming he has joined the Common goal initiative via his twitter handle.
“Nigeria has a tough group in the world cup this summer, however I am very certain we gonna surprise a lot of people this year.”
The defender became the 43rd member of Juan Mata Common Goal movement.
Troost-Ekong captained the Super Eagles of Nigeria in an international friendly against Poland at the Stadion Miejski in Wrocław Poland which Nigeria won by a goal to nil courtesy of a Victor Moses 61st minute penalty.
Nigeria is in group D of the FIFA World Cup alongside Argentina, Croatia and Iceland.
