Former AC Milan and Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko has been appointed the new head coach of Ukraine.
It is a first coaching job for the 39-year-old as he replaces Mykhaylo Fomenko, whose four-year spell ended with the country’s elimination at the group stage of Euro 2016.
Ukraine’s all-time leading scorer with 48 goals, Shevchenko joined the country’s coaching staff ahead of Euro 2016, succeeding Olexandr Zavarov as assistant to Fomenko.
