Arsenal make enormous transfer bid for Monaco star Kylian Mbappe

Arsenal join Kylian Mbappe race with monster club-record transfer bid

Arsenal have joined the race to sign Monaco star Kylian Mbappe and are ready to smash their club record transfer fee to land him, according to reports emerging from France.
Mbappe is one of Europe’s most in-demand young players, having scored 15 goals and laid on another eight assists in 29 Ligue 1 appearances last season.

He has attracted attention from the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City, but now L’Equipe report that Arsenal have entered the bidding with a whopping €100 million (£87m) offer.

Arsene Wenger committed to spending money after signing a new two-year deal and has made Mbappe his number one target.
He previously made a move last summer for the 18-year-old, who was a fan of Arsenal and Thierry Henry as a child, but was unsuccessful in the approach.

The report does not specify whether the bid had been accepted or rejected, though Monaco are known to be determined to keep the teenager at the club even if it means losing other players.

Arsenal are fully aware of how difficult it will be to secure Mbappe’s signature and are progressing with talks for an alternative should their bid fail.

Wenger is also tracking Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette at the same time as pursuing Mbappe, though the Gunners are putting the majority of their resources into convincing the Monaco man.
Their offer does fall some way short of previous reported bids for Mbappe, though, with Man City and Madrid both thought to have put together €130m packages.
