Prostitute arraigned for allegedly taking nude images of customer in Lagos hotel

A sex worker, who gave her identity as Hilda Davids, alleged to have taken the nude photographs of her customer, also identified as Ofoegwu, after bouts of sex at a hotel, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos state.

27-year-old Davids, who lives in Ikeja, was arraigned on a two-count charge of intent to extort by blackmail and to steal.
The prostitute, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Imhonwa had earlier told the court that the accused, committed the offences at 11.00 p.m. on April 28 at Isaac John Street, Ikeja.
Imhonwa explained further that “the accused, a suspected sex worker, had gone to enjoy herself with the complainant, Chukwuemeka Ofoegwu, in a hotel.”
He said the accused took the nude pictures of Ofoegwu in the hotel without his consent with the intention to blackmail him.
He said the accused had threatened to post the pictures on the social media if the complainant refused to pay her the sum of N5 million.
The prosecutor said that the accused also sent threat messages to Ofoegwu’s cell phone.
He added, “Davids snapped Ofoegwu while he was Unclad in the hotel without his consent. She demanded N5 million otherwise she would post the pictures online if her demand is not met.”
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 299 and 300 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
However, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
According to the judge, the sureties must be gainfully employed and should also provide evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The matter was adjourned until July 12 for hearing.
