Police nab two suspected robbers, recover arms

The police in Abuja have arrested two suspected robbers who were allegedly on their way to Minna, Niger State, for a robbery operation.

The new Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Bello, stated this on Thursday, adding that one Beretta pistol, one locally-made revolver and six rounds of 9mm live ammunition were recovered from Suleiman Hasimu and Muhammad.

The CP explained that the suspects were apprehended around the Zuba Flyover at about 5.30pm following a tip-off.

He said, “The policemen at the Zuba division subsequently moved in and arrested the two suspected armed robbers at about 17.30hrs. They were on their way to Minna, Niger State, for a major robbery operation.”

“The suspects have been transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for investigation.”

The police boss said he would reduce crime to the barest minimum in the FCT and called for public support through the provision of timely information.

“My priority as the CP is to reduce crime. I intend to do this in partnership with the FCT residents,” he said.

Bello said the police control room could be reached on 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653 and 08028940883.
