Mother Sells Her Child For 300,000 Naira


The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recovered a baby boy, David Johnny, who was stolen by a doctor with the connivance of his mother, Esther Johnny, and sold to a woman in Abuja.

It was learnt that the mother initially denied knowledge of the crime as the police intensified efforts to unravel the whereabouts of the baby.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Akwa Ibom State, Mike Okoli, said this in Uyo on Tuesday.

OPC Sacks Fasheun As President


Founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, Dr. Fredrick Fasheun, has been overthrown as president of the organisation by a faction of the group led by Comrade Dare Adesope, who has been announced as the new president of the congress.

At a news conference on Tuesday at the congress’ secretariat, Egbe area of Ikotun, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, Adesope said OPC has lost confidence in the leadership of Fasheun who had thrown the organisation into crisis and politics.

20 Year Old Nigerian Man Shot Dead In UK


20 year old Nigerian young man, Ola Raji, was stabbed to death last week Tuesday while cycling through an estate in Peckham, near a community centre founded in memory of murdered schoolboy, Damilola Taylor.

According to reports, Ola was shot three times and stabbed by two men who ambushed him around 10.30pm. The men fled after the attack and Ola later died in hospital.

Ola Raji was a pupil at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic School in Camberwell and went to college. Police are now looking for his murderers.

Jonathan, Sambo, Others To Get 3.24bn Severance Pay


PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan, Vice-president Namadi Sambo, non-returning federal lawmakers, ministers and   presidential aides will collect N3.24bn as severance allowances, investigation by The PUNCH has shown.

The severance allowances   are contained in the Remuneration Package   put together by the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

According to the package, Jonathan, who will hand over to the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on May 29, is entitled to 300 per cent of his annual basic salary.

Former Akwa Ibom NNDC Commissioner jailed for stealing transformers

The former Commissioner representing Akwa Ibom State in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Pastor Godwin Moffat, is to spend the next three years in prison for stealing 56 transformers worth a whopping N220 million, meant for distribution to oil producing communities in the state.
Pastor Moffat was dragged to an AkwaIbom State High Court on a 56 count charge bordering on stealing, conversion and misappropriation of funds, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and he was duly sentenced.

The police in Australia have arrested and charged a mentally deranged 20-year-old man, Joel Russo, after he pounced on a 16-year-old girl and raped her in broad daylight.
Russo who was granted parole after serving less than 12 months in prison for armed robbery, was said to be lurking in the women’s bathroom at the Caulfield Plaza mall and then on a college campus.

A 42-year-old Kenyan female dancer, Samira Johnson, has been nabbed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, with cocaine weighing 5.345kg.
The spokesman of the drug bursting agency, Mitchell Ofoyeju, said the dancer had concealed the narcotics in some school bags.

The question being asked in an Ohio court is if a mentally deranged woman, Deasia Watkins, is fit enough to stand trial for the murder of her three-months-old baby who she beheaded. Another question the prosecutors are trying to find answer to is if the man who got her pregnant should not be charged for having sexual relations with someone who is mentally challenged.

Court Dissolves 3-Year-Old Marriage Over Wife’s Lack Of Vagina


Abeokuta, April 29, 2015 (NAN) An Abeokuta Customary Court sitting in Ake on Wednesday dissolved a three-year-old marriage between Mr Femi Olayiwole and wife, Kemi, due to the absence of vagina, deceit and frequent fighting.

Olayiwole told the court that his wife deceived him to marry her knowing that she could not bear him a child.

He accused his wife, who had failed to appear in court after being summoned several times, of living a false life, frequent fighting and threatening his life.

Ex Niger-Delta Militants Warn APC, Buhari


Even as the All Progressives Congress (APC) has promised to sustain certain agencies of government to keep up with development in Niger Delta, ex-militants from the region have cautioned the incoming administration of General Muhammadu Buhari not to tamper with the programmes of the outgoing Jonathan’s government.

Speaking under the aegis of Niger Delta Salvation Front(NDSF), the ex-militants alleged that their kinsman and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, lost the election to international conspiracy and further accused the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega, of playing a regional/ethnic card in the just-concluded general elections.

FG Warns Buhari Against Running Parallel Government

The Federal Government on Wednesday said it took exception to some of the terms of reference of the transition committee set up by the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

Minister of National Planning, Dr. Abubakar Sulaiman, disclosed this at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting.
Sulaiman, who is the chairman of the Technical Subcommittee of the outgoing government’s transition committee, said the council warned the incoming government against running a parallel government.
He said President Goodluck Jonathan’s magnanimity should not be taken as a sign or cowardice.
