Nigeria, five other countries, have largest numbers of extremely poor people, says World Bank President

Amid plans by the Federal Government to release the figures of the country’s newly rebased Gross Domestic Product, GDP, the World Bank on Tuesday classified Nigeria among the world’s five extreme poor countries.

American Woman Declared Dead But Wakes Up In A Mortuary Freezer Then Freezes To Death

Via LA Times reports:

Maria de Jesus Arroyo, 80, was pronounced dead in July 2010 at White Memorial Medical Center in Boyle Heights after suffering a heart attack. When morticians received her body a few days later, they found her body facedown, with her nose broken and cuts and bruises to her face, injuries so severe they could not be covered up by make-up, according to court papers.

A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the Federal Government and the Nigerian police to pay suspended Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, N50 million as exemplary damages for unlawfully detaining him and seizing his passport on February 20th. The court also asked the police to immediately return his passport and warned them against arresting or harassing him again.

Six missing, 22 rescued from Lagos boat disaster

 Lagos boat collapsed
At least six passengers on board a wooden boat were feared dead after it capsized in a lagoon in the Majidun area of Ikorodu in Lagos State on Wednesday evening.
However, 22 others, who also fell of the boat were rescued by local divers.
