Man stabbed with a steak knife by his flatmate after 'taking too long in the shower'

A man's relaxing nightly shower sparked a horrific knife attack inside his own home, hospitalising him for four days with life-threatening injuries.
Scott Hogan, 19, was stabbed twice in the back with a steak knife by his flatmate Matthew George Chandler, 21, in a 'spur-of-the-moment' attack on February 7 last year.
Mr Chandler was reportedly fuming with Mr Hogan over his love of a long hot shower when the brutal incident occurred at their Southport unit on Queensland's Gold Coast.

The United States has dealt a major crackdown on Nigeria’s Yahoo gang, with arrests of 16 people in several US cities, Canada and South Africa.
Most of the people arrested were Nigerians.
The suspects were arrested on charges that they took part in a fraud that used stolen information to get money and goods and then ship them to South Africa and Nigeria, according to documents unsealed in federal court in Gulfport, Mississippi Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the Plateau Governor, Jonah Jang, described sponsors of bomb attacks in the country as “enemies of humanity and democracy.”

He made this known in a statement signed by Mr. James Mannok, Director of Press Affairs, “The sponsors of these attacks on humanity stand condemned now and in the hereafter. We must all mobilise to check the carnage,’’
The executive Governor, Jang, who reacted to the twin explosions that hit Terminus Market, Jos, on Tuesday afternoon, condemned the “headless destruction of lives and property by these elements,”
He advised Nigerians to see the war against terrorism as a collective challenge that must be tackled collectively and urged the security agencies to fish out the attackers.

El-Rufai sues PDP, Metuh for N1.5b

Former Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nasir El-Rufai, has instituted a N1.5 billion libel suit against the Peoples Democratic Party, its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olisa Metuh and a national newspaper before a High Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
El-Rufai accused Metuh of authoring a defamatory statement, issued on behalf of the PDP, linking him and the All Progressives Congress  (APC) to the Boko Haram insurgency.

30 people dead as gunmen invade yet another Borno village

At least 30 villagers were killed and several others injured as gunmen attacked Shawa village in Damboa local government area of Borno State, witnesses said.
The attack on the village, which is about 25km away from Damboa town, took place at about 4am when the gunmen crept upon sleeping villagers, shooting and setting houses ablaze with petrol bombs.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Adejare Adeboye, has suspended workers of the church who did not attend the National Workers Meeting held recently.The annual national workers’ meeting is a forum for all the workers of the church to meet with the leadership and it usually holds on Saturday before the Holy Ghost Service of every year.

Man arraigned for defiling 11 pupils

A 47-year-old man, Rotimi Olayebi Edwards, has been remanded in custody for allegedly sexually assaulting 11 Junior Secondary School pupils.
The suspect is the administrator of the school owned by his mother.
