Police arrests `mad man’ with arms, ammunition in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday said it had arrested a suspected mad man who is being held for allegedly being in possession of arms and ammunition.
The spokesperson of the command, DSP Ngozi Braide, disclosed this during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Senate okays emergency rule extension in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States

 
The Senate on Tuesday, unanimously approved the extension of the state of emergency in the troubled states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, and gave seven conditions that should be met by the federal government in order to ensure its successful implementation.

A Russian billionaire has been ordered to pay more than 4bn Swiss francs (£2.7bn; $4.5bn) to his ex-wife to settle a six-year divorce battle.
The Geneva court's verdict means Dmitry Rybolovlev, the owner of French football team AS Monaco, will lose around half of his estimated fortune.

Man dies fixing faulty high-tension wire

A 34-year-old man, identified as Kurokeme Awudu, has been electrocuted at Ohorhor community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The incident occurred late Sunday when Awudu, who hailed from Kpakiama community in Bomadi Local Government Area of the state, was trying to connect a faulty electric power line which transmits power to Bomadi and its environ.

BBC reports that Rosemary Namubiru, who is HIV-positive, was criminally negligent by using an intravenous needle, that she had accidentally pricked her finger with, on the child, the court ruled.

Homicide detectives in Edo Police State are battling to unravel how a middle-aged was murdered about 48 hours to her daughter’s wedding. The deceased, identified as Mrs Itota, was allegedly beaten to a pulp by an angry neighbour and some people in military uniform at Joe Amedu Street, off Upper Mission in Benin City.
