Lagos Shuts 28 Illegal Hospitals

The Lagos State Government says it has shut down 28 substandard hospitals and 319 illegal pharmacies across the state for not meeting up with the standard set by the government.
The government also disclosed that 9,498 pupils in Lagos public primary schools have visual impairment after tests carried out on them.

An Upper Area Court in Kado, Abuja, on Wednesday sentenced a 43-year-old woman, Janet Moses to five months in prison for beating a two-year-old boy to a state of coma.
The judge, Mr Abubakar Sadiq, sentenced Moses after she pleaded guilty to a one count charge of cruelty to a child.

A law allowing men to marry as many women as they want has been signed into law in Kenya by President Uhuru Kenyatta despite opposition from women’s groups.
The new development in the country was confirmed through a statement by the presidency, which says it ”consolidates various laws relating to marriage”.

Lawal Olaniyi Babafemi entered the plea on Tuesday to charges of providing material support to al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula. He faces up to 30 years in prison at his August sentencing in federal court in Brooklyn.

The Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army has arrested a 72-year-old man for operating four gun factories in Suleja Niger State and the Federal Capital Territory.
The Public Relations Officer of the Brigade, Capt. Charles Ekeocha, told journalists on Tuesday in Suleja, Niger State that three of the factories were in the Federal Capital Territory while one was located in Suleja.
