Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe’s ruling Zanu-PF party has called for an extra-ordinary congress in December to deal with internal divisions threatening to destroy it ahead of next year’s general elections.

According to VOA Zimbabwe the party holds congresses once every 4 years and the next one was due to take place in 2019.

Zanu-PF is sharply divided into two distinct factions battling to succeed Mugabe, 93, when he leaves office.

Police in Kenya said on Friday they shot and killed two opposition protesters who allegedly stormed a police station with farm tools and rocks in the western part of the country, while police used tear gas on rallies in the capital and elsewhere demanding reforms ahead of the new election.

Three other protesters had gunshot wounds in Siaya County, Bondo police chief Paul Kiarie said.

Man abandons home to live in woods for 10years over wife's constant nagging


A 62-year-old gardener, Malcolm Applegate, decided to live in the woods for ten years after he got fed up with his wife’s nagging and wanted to live away from home.

According to Mailonline, Applegate was married to his wife for three years before going elsewhere after the relationship reached a breaking point.

The gardener travelled from their house in Birmingham to London on foot after his bike got stolen.

Some foreigners including a Nigerian national, a Cameroonian, Indian, and an Algerian were arrested in Phuket on Wednesday,  for illegally staying in Thailand after their permit had expired.

The President of the World Bank Group, Jim Yong Kim, said on Thursday that the bank had concentrated on the northern region of Nigeria in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s request.

S.A police arrest man with over $700k stuffed in his suitcase


The police in South Africa, has arrested and charged a 38-year old man to court after more than 10m Rand ($740,000; £560,000) in cash, was found in his suitcase.

The man was detained at the Cape Town International airport. He had plans to fly to Dubai. Spokesman for the police force The Hawk, was quoted as saying, 'obviously our probe in this will be to determine the trail and origin of the money. We cannot rule out unearthing illicit activities as we go along'.

ECOWAS Court Awards N18m against FG for Labelling Actress, Njemanze, Two Others Prostitutes


The ECOWAS Court Thursday imposed a fine of N18 million on the Nigerian government for violating the human rights of three Nigerian women in 2011 when it labelled them prostitutes.

The three women — Dorothy Njemanze, a popular actress, Justina Etim and Amarachi Jessyford — are to be paid the sum of N6 million each by the federal government for their unlawful arrest, detention and declaration as prostitutes in Abuja.

The 50-year-old woman is believed to have been killed in a US drone attack in June as she tried to flle the group’s stronghold in Raqqa, though US intelligence chiefs say they cannot be 100% sure as no attempts were made to recover her DNA.
