Photos: Two arraigned for assaulting FRSC official in Lagos


Two men were arraigned today before Mrs AA Famobiwo of magistrate court 3, Surulere for assaulting an FRSC official. Nwandu Onyeka and Okechukwu Jackson were arraigned on three count charge of conspiracy, assault and obstruction. Both pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of 50k and 2 sureties each. 

The case was adjourned to 18 July 2016 for mention. Both accused were remanded in prison custody as they couldn't meet the bail conditions.

Spanish judge drops case against Neymar


A Spanish judge on Friday dropped a fraud and corruption case against Brazilian superstar Neymar and his father in relation to the player’s 2013 transfer to Barcelona. 

The case had been brought by the Brazilian investment fund DIS, former owners of the rights of the player, now 24 and who moved to the Camp Nou from Santos in his homeland.

Gambia's President Yayha Jammeh announced that anyone marrying a girl below 18 would be jailed for up to 20 years.
In Tanzania, the high court imposed a landmark ruling outlawing marriage under the age of 18 for boys and girls.

Skye Bank shares drop further by 8.42%


Skye Bank’s shares on the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Friday dropped further by 8.42 per cent following investors continued reaction to removal of the bank’s board and executive management.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) removed the board and management of the bank on Monday, and replaced them with another, a measure it said, was to redirect the bank.
The trading on Friday, the bank lost 8k to close at 87k per share.

Monday Usifo (45), an engineer who lives at No.19, Emmanuel St., Ketu Alapere, a suburb of Lagos is being tried for assault.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Rapheal Donny, told the court that the offence was committed on April 17 at the accused residence.

The Nigerian Army has reported 2 suicide bomb attacks in Damboa, Borno state at about 5:15a.m on Friday.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has signed a new six-year deal, with the club's owners saying it would have been "irresponsible" not to offer him a long-term contract.
Klopp joined Liverpool in October, initially agreeing a £15m deal to 2018 that has now been extended until 2022.
"His leadership will be critical to everything we hope to achieve," said Liverpool's owners.
Klopp took Liverpool to the League Cup and the Europa League finals last term.
The 49-year-old German had previously guided Borussia Dortmund to two Bundesliga titles and the 2013 Champions League final.

The posting in Arabic appeared on an encrypted conversation along with ads for kittens, weapons and tactical gear. It was shared by an activist with the minority Yazidi community, whose women and children are being held as sex slaves by ISIL.
While the extremist group is losing territory in its self-styled caliphate, it is tightening its grip on an estimated 3,000 women and girls held as sex slaves.

Cultists hack 11 to death to mark anniversary in Ogun

No fewer than 11 persons have been hacked to death by suspected cult members in Igode and Fakale communities, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Four persons were also injured, while houses and cars were completely razed in the attack that shook the community for about 10 hours.
It was gathered that the hoodlums, said to be Aye Confraternity members, had gone on the rampage at about 11am on Wednesday to commemorate their anniversary tagged 7/7.

The Police patrolman who shot and killed Philando Castile during a traffic stop has been identified as Jeronimo Yanez (Left). The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) released a statement Thursday evening saying Yanez and another cop, Officer Joseph Kauser, were involved in the Wednesday shooting.
