An estranged husband, Clifford Monday, on Wednesday admitted in an Akure Customary Court that he only beat his wife, Bukola, whenever she flouted his instructions.

Clifford made this known when he testified in a divorce petition filed by the wife.

He told the court that Bukola was the main cause of the misunderstanding they had in the union. He also admitted he destroyed his wife’s property, adding that his wife used tricks to extort money from him.

364 persons convicted for drug trafficking in Kano

A Federal High Court in Kano State has convicted 364 persons for various drug-related offences.

Commander of the Anti-narcotic Agency Hamza Umar said the convicts were apprehended within Kano metropolis and its environs, adding that they were investigated and charged to court accordingly.

He hinted that over 40 tonnes of diverse narcotics were mopped from the street, adding that the seizures and conviction were secured between early 2016 and now.
Umar attributed the success to collaborations between his command and the people.

The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Wednesday adjourned the trial of the former Director- General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Emeka Mba, till April 4 for continuation of hearing.
Justice Kolawale adjourned the matter at the instance of Mr. Ikoro Ikoro, counsel to Babatunji Amure, the fourth defendant, who informed the court that he was not ready for the trial.
Kolawale said the adjournment was to enable counsel prepare to continue with the substantive trial since the trial within-trial would no longer go on.

A man is accused of decapitating his mother before carrying her severed head out of the house.
During the grisly scene, 18-year-old Oliver Funes Machada allegedly killed his mother and then walked out the front door of her house holding the woman’s head, authorities said.
Oliver Funes Machada was charged Monday with first-degree murder after he called emergency services to say he had killed his mother, according to a Franklin County Sheriff’s Office statement.

Osun Declares Two Day Curfew In Ife


The Government of Osun has declared a two day curfew in entire Ile-Ife City, State of Osun.

A statement by Semiu Okanlawon, Director of Communications and Strategy to the Osun state governor, Rauf Aregbesola said the curfew was necessitated by the breach of the peace in the area which has led to avoidable destruction of lives and properties.

The curfew, which will be between 6pm to 7am, will be in force till Friday.

The British High Commission in Abuja has debunked a report by The Guardian UK which reported at the weekend that the government of President Goodluck Jonathan rejected the offer by the British Royal Armed Force (RAF) to help rescue over 200 Chibok schoolgirls, when they were kidnapped by Boko Haram in 2014.

According to The Nation, the British High Commission on Tuesday said the allegation that the RAF was over the area for a number of months and actually located the girls within weeks, but the Nigerian government under former President Jonathan turned down its offer to rescue the girls, “was false”.
