Lagos arraigns Cameroonian house help for employer’s murder


A Cameroonian househelp, Leudjou Joel, has been remanded for the alleged murder of his Nigerian employer, Miss Dayo Eniola.

Joel, 21 who worked as a cleaner for 33-year-old Eniola in the Ikoyi area of Lagos, was said to have allegedly stabbed his employer to death last December.

15-year-old girl commits suicide after her ex-boyfriend posted “explicit” pictures of her online


A tormented 15-year-old girl, sadly ended her life after she learned that her ex-boyfriend allegedly posted explicit photographs of her online. Karina Saifer Oliveira is said to have killed herself after she heard rumours that the photos had been shared throughout her hometown in Nova Andradina of southeastern Brazil.

Rwanda opens its doors to abused Africans in Libya


Rwanda is willing to provide refuge to as many as 30,000 African migrants suffering abuse and slave-like conditions in Libya, the foreign minister told AFP Wednesday.

"Rwanda is currently under discussions... to see how we can help in welcoming migrants held captive in Libya," said Louise Mushikiwabo. "It has just been decided so numbers and means are still under discussion but Rwanda estimates the number to be welcomed around 30,000," she said, adding that this figure "is not confirmed yet but an estimation".

Forty people are facing prosecution after police raids in west and central Africa rescued nearly 500 victims of human trafficking, including a 16-year-old Nigerian girl, Interpol said on Thursday.

Raids were carried out in Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal as part of a German foreign ministry funded initiative targeting organised crime in the region.

The Brazilian, 33, was found guilty of assaulting a 22-year-old woman along with five other men at a disco in Milan in 2013, when he played for AC Milan.

Police arrest 86-year-old woman for armed-robbery


Police in Philadelphia, U.S., have arrested an 86-year-old woman for an attempted robbery after she pointed a gun at a bank teller and demanded $400, police say.

Reports say that Emily Coakley, who uses a walker, had been to the same bank a day earlier, but when she counted her money after returning home she believed she had been short-changed by $400.

Journalists, CSOs Criticise Saraki’s Court Order Freezing Sahara Reporters’ Bank Accounts


An order of a Kwara State High Court which blocked bank accounts linked to an online media platform, Sahara Reporters, about four months ago has been criticised by a coalition of media and Civil Society Organisations, CSOs.

The group, Coalition for Press Freedom and Whistleblower Protection (CPFWP) made their position known in a joint statement signed by 15 of its members on Wednesday.

It further condemned delays in the judicial process to reverse the order.

Security Man Found Dead In Front Of Workplace


A middle-aged man, identified simply as Taiwo, who was a security man at an electronic appliance retail shop, was found dead on Wednesday in front of the shop.

It was gathered that he slumped in front of the shop located on Oyemekun Road, Akure, the Ondo State capital.

A Nigerian couple in Cypress is being accused of stealing nearly $40,000 from an owner of the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team.

The team’s part owner, Randy Frankel, told police in St. Petersburg, Florida, that someone had managed to get into his assistant’s AOL account in February, compromising instructions to Wells Fargo Bank to route $38,326.26 into another Wells Fargo business account. .
