Bruno Genesio ‘confident’ about Memphis Depay’s future at Lyon

Lyon coach Bruno Genesio has defended Memphis Depay’s recent dip in form and backed the former Manchester United man to come good again.

Depay, 23, joined Lyon from United in January, and after settling in he enjoyed a rush of five goals and two assists in six Ligue 1 matches.

However, since scoring a stunning goal from the centre circle against Toulouse on 12 March, Depay has failed to score in his last four league matches, although he has provided two further assists.

Senegal court upholds life sentence for Chad ex-leader Habre

An appeals court in Senegal has upheld the life sentence of former Chad dictator Hissene Habre on war crimes charges.

The court also ruled Thursday that a trust fund be set up to manage reparations awarded to the more than 4,000 victims. Habre has been ordered to pay millions of dollars in compensation.

Barcelona have confirmed they will take a complaint to Spain’s Anti-Violence Committee for Sport about Malaga president Abdullah Al-Thani after he tweeted “Catalan scum will not get a whiff of the title.”

A Nigerian man, Mr. Chinedu Eze has been killed in South Africa by a Somalian, the Nigeria Union in South Africa has confirmed. The Chairman of the union, Mr Mike Ibitoye, said that Eze was shot on April 25 during an argument over cell phone.

"Chinedu Eze is a native of Umuchu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. He deals in cell phones. Reports at our disposal said that on the fateful day, there was an argument between him and Somali man inside a car.

Pensioner, 82, punched sex attacker and crushed his penis to stop attack

A man has been jailed for sexually assaulting a pensioner after rugby tackling her to the ground.

Greg Laird, 29, admitted groping the 82-year-old woman while she was walking on her own through Bletchley, Buckinghamshire.

Prosecutor Sandra Beck said the pensioner punched him to get him off her.

Miss Beck said: ‘There was no real reaction to her actions as she made pleas to the man and was screaming and crying, telling him “I’m 82 I’m 82, I don’t want this, get off me”.’

He put his hand under her bra and groped her breasts while performing a sex act on himself.

Kenya to recruit 10,000 policemen ahead of August 8 polls

Kenya’s National Police Service has opened applications to recruit 10,000 more people ahead of the general elections on August 8, 2017.

Selection of the recruits will be done on May 11 and induction will be done after a nine-month training, the police service announced.

President Muhammadu Buhari is seeking senate's approval for a proposal to borrow $5.85 billion from China to modernise its rail network and another $1.075 billion from the World Bank to help rebuild the insurgency-torn northeast.

United Airlines to offer passengers up to $10,000 to give up seats

United Airlines has said it will offer passengers who volunteer to give up their seats on an overbooked flight up to $10,000 (£7,700).

It is one of several new policies it has unveiled in its efforts to avoid a repeat of the controversy and public relations disaster in which a passenger was dragged off one of its flights earlier this month.
