Former Super Eagles player, Emmanuel Amuneke, was unveiled on Tuesday evening as the new head coach for Sudanese top division football club, Al Khartoum Watani, after he signed a two-year deal at the club for the forthcoming season.

Amuneke, a former Super Eagles winger and Nigeria U-17s and U-20 coach, replaces Kwesi Appiah who took over the reins as Ghana’s head coach for the third time earlier in the year.

Separatists kill two policemen in Cameroon


Separatists killed two policemen in the restive English-speaking region of Cameroon, a day after an officer was shot dead there, the government said Wednesday.

“Secessionist terrorists killed two gendarmes overnight in Bamenda,” government spokesman Issa Tchiroma Bakary told AFP, adding that the attack was carried out “with combat weapons.”

Two jailed for human trafficking in Enugu


A Federal High Court sitting in Enugu has convicted two persons, Ernest Obieze and Ferdinand Okechukwu for unlawful procurement of an eight-year-old girl and having carnal knowledge of her.

The convicted persons were sentenced to five-year jail term each with the additional fine of N100, 000 each.

Porto and Spain Legendary goalkeeper, Iker Casillas, on Tuesday won the 2017 Golden Foot Award ahead of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

Six children killed as grenade explodes inside primary school


At least six children have been killed and 25 others injured in an explosion at a primary school in north-west Tanzania, witnesses say.

Reports say the pupils were playing with a grenade they had found.

Three were pronounced dead at the time they arrived at hospital. The others succumbed to their wounds, Rulenge hospital’s doctor in charge, Sister Maria Goreth Fredricks, told the BBC.

A Spanish judge on Thursday ordered eight members of the deposed Catalan government detained pending further probes into their role in the region’s tumultuous quest for independence, a Madrid court said.

Another former regional minister, who resigned just before the Catalan parliament declared independence on Friday, was also remanded in custody but will be set free if he pays a bond of 50,000 euros ($58,000).

FG asks UN, Italy to prosecute those behind death of 26 Nigerian women


Nigeria’s anti-trafficking agency, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), said on Tuesday that it was reaching out to the United Nations and authorities in Italy to identify and prosecute the traffickers behind the deaths of 26 Nigerian women on the Italian coast city of Salerno.

NAPTIP Director of Press and Public Relations, Josiah Emerole, disclosed this yesterday in a release, noting that the statistics of deaths of Nigerians, which had occurred as a result of illegal migration on the Mediterranean Sea, ran into thousands.

A man gave evidence from beyond the grave today during the trial of his ex-girlfriend, who is accused of his murder. Berlinah Wallace was charged with murder after she allegedly threw sulphuric acid in the face of Mark van Dongen, while screaming: ‘If I can’t have you no-one can’.

He suffered 25 percent burns and had such serious injuries he was left paralysed – only able to move his tongue. Mark also lost a leg, his left eye, and most of the sight in his right eye following the sulphuric acid attack, Bristol Crown Court heard. The 29-year-old civil engineer was left wanting to end his life and eventually successfully applied for euthanasia. He died 15 months after the incident.
