Japan football legend Kazuyoshi Miura renews contract before 51st birthday


Former Japan striker Kazuyoshi Miura, who will turn 51 next month, renewed his contract with Yokohama FC on Thursday, extending his record as the oldest player in the J-League.

The golden oldie, admiringly nicknamed “King Kazu” for his spirited grit and style, will kick off his 33rd career season this year after a stunning 2017 in which he surpassed the previous professional longevity record set by England legend Stanley Matthews.

Police Uncover Suspected Trafficking Camp In Lagos, Rescue Six Children


No fewer than six children between the ages of three and 10 have been rescued from a suspected human trafficking transit camp in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State.

The owner of the camp, 25-year-old Comfort Anwana, was arrested on Tuesday during a raid carried out by operatives of the state police command and the Ministry of Youths and Social Services.

First women-only car showroom opens in Saudi


A Saudi private company on Thursday opened the first car showroom for women only just five months before a decision allowing females to drive takes effect.

The showroom was opened in a shopping mall in the western Red Sea port city of Jeddah to allow women the freedom to choose their own cars before they hit the road.

Valencia have announced that they have reached an agreement to sign Francis Coquelin from Arsenal, with the value of the deal reportedly worth £12 million.

Coquelin had joined Arsenal in 2008 as a youth, and made 150 Premier League appearances for the club, but had not featured prominently this season. Indeed, he played only seven times for the Gunners in the league this season, starting only once – at centre-back in a 3-1 loss to Manchester City.

84-year-old man rapes 77-year-old woman at gunpoint


An 84-year-old man is accused of using a gun to force a 77-year-old woman to have sex with him in the city of Emden in the north of the country.

The local public prosecutor and police force said on Thursday that several weapons with ammunition were discovered during a search of the man’s flat in the village of Krummhoern on Wednesday.

An Arkansas man identified as Tony Thomas, 58, of Carlisle has been charged with capital murder after police said he fatally stabbed his wife for changing the TV channel from a football game he was watching while he went outside to smoke.
 
According to Dailymail, Thomas confessed to killing his wife, Elke nearly two months after the incident. The incident happened during a domestic argument in November. He's been jailed since the incident.
