Gunmen Assassinate Popular Benin Pastor "Prophet Speed" In Edo


Unknown gunmen assassinated the founder and head pastor of Love Fire Ministry, a Pentecostal church located at 3, Ugiagbe street, off Country Home Motel Road, in Benin, Edo State.

Pastor Godwin Emmanuel popularly known as Prophet Speed, was shot dead on Sunday night along Oko Central road, off Airport road, Benin, Edo state.

Justice Halilu Yusuf of the FCT High Court, Jabi has ordered the Nigerian Prisons to plan for surgery to extract the bullet lodged in the leg of a defendant for trial.
The judge gave the order on Wednesday before adjourning  the case of the alleged robbery preferred against 10 men to  March 27.

He said that this should be done before the defendants were brought to court on the next adjourned date.

Woman Cuts Her Husband’s Cousin With A Blade Over N20 In Lagos


A trader identified only as Iya Keji, has been declared wanted, for allegedly cutting her husband’s 12-year-old cousin, Bose, with a blade, in different parts of her body, on Tuesday, on Tayo Kehinde Street, Egbeda, Lagos State.

The mother of one, who is a trader, later escaped. She has been declared wanted by policemen from the Shasha division. However, her mother, aunt and daughter were detained by the police pending the arrest of the trader.

A Hluhluwe man has said he will not be able to forgive the three women who raped him. A video of the incident appeared on social media and has since gone viral. The man, whose name is known to the Daily News, said he was at home when a woman whom he knows called him over, saying she needed help with an electrical problem at her home.

“I went into her house and when I got there, I saw another girl in the room. I did not pay any attention to her. Then another girl who was hiding behind the door closed it, that’s when I realised that something was wrong.”

Court Remands 7 Boko Haram Leaders In Kuje Prison


The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that seven suspected Boko Haram leaders, who were allegedly involved in the kidnaping and murdering of 11 foreign nationals between 2011 and 2013 in the North be remanded at Kuje Prison pending their trial in the criminal charges brought against them by the Federal Government.
The Federal Government filed an 11-count charge against the seven suspected leaders of the Boko Haram sect, to which they all pleaded not guilty when read out to them in the court.

It was a gory sight at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Federal Teaching Hospital (FETHA), Abakaliki, in Ebonyi State, as an 8-month-old baby boy was stabbed by his reportedly mentally-sick mother and brought into the ward for surgery with the knife still stuck in the boy’s abdomen.

Though Daily Sun could not get full details of the incident as the suspect, who was said to be a wife of a serving police Sergeant, was said to have been taken to hospital for treatment, it was gathered that the incident happened at the police barracks, Abakaliki.

A father in Niger State forgave a 62-year-old man who raped his three years old daughter after the rapist promised to treat the girl.

The culprit, Mohammed Sani, a resident of Cool-Cat area in Maitumbi of Bosso Local Government Area, was, however, arrested after the girl’s brother-in-law insisted the matter be reported at the state’s police command.

Customs Comptroller General Makes A U-Turn, To Honour Senate Summons


The Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali (retd.), has dropped his earlier plan not to honour the summons of the Senate.

A reliable source close to the leadership of the Senate told one of our correspondents on Tuesday that Ali was advised to honour the Senate invitation in order to avert a clash between the Legislature and the Executive.

Ali had told the Senate, in a letter, that he would not appear before the lawmakers on Wednesday (today) as his summons to the chamber coincided with the routine management meeting of the NCS.

According to TMZ, Auntie Fee, real name Felicia O'Dell, was feeling sick over the weekend, and she was admitted to the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in L.A. after having chest pains. She suffered a heart attack at the hospital and died around 4:30pm PT.

Tension as Abia Community is Abandoned After Heavy Clash With Fulani Herdsmen


Economic and social activities have come to a halt in Umuobasiukwu Ozuitem community in Bende Local Government of Abia State as residents have abandoned their homes for fear of arrest by police who swooped on the community following a clash with Fulani herdsmen.

Indigenes of Umuobasiukwu who spoke with journalists in Umuahia said that the one-sided arrests by the Abia State Police Command would embolden the herdsmen to launch another attack on the community which is now more vulnerable.
