Chelsea have announced that their captain John Terry will leave the club at the end of the season.
Terry has never played for any other club and will end a 22-year stay at Chelsea at the age of 36.
Chelsea confirmed the news on their website as they released a lengthy statement thanking the skipper that lead them through the most successful period in their history.

The police in Lagos State are investigating the alleged killing of a youth by a mobile policeman on the premises of a hotel in Alimosho Area on Thursday.
The policeman, attached to Erico Belisima Hotel on Olowologbon Street along Akowonjo-Egbeda Road, allegedly shot and killed the youth, identified as Niyi.
The youth had gone to the hotel with some friends to locate one of the guests, who allegedly owed him some money.

The Nigerian Senate has commended the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for responding to the motion moved during a plenary session by Senator Kabiru Marafa, chairman, Committee on Petroleum Downstream Sector, on the theft of petroleum products kept in the farm tanks of two oil companies and urged the corporation to take more radical measures to avoid recurrence.

In a statement obtained by Politics Nigeria, signed by the spokesman of the senate, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the legislative chamber advised that NNPC should go beyond the sacking and redeployment of a few officials but initiate a comprehensive restructuring of its operations which presently allow officials and other firms to appropriate national resources for their personal use, thereby contributing to the suffering of the people.

Bauchi State detects 17 new cases of Leprosy


The agency in charge of Leprosy disease in Bauchi state has raised alarm over the increasing spread of Leprosy in the state as 17 new cases have just been detected in a small community of about 2000 people.

The new outbreak is coming at a time when some donor agencies have completely withdrawn their support in the fight against the disease in Nigeria.

Uganda activist charged for calling President Museveni 'a pair of buttocks'


Stella Nyanzi, a controversial Ugandan academic and human right activist was last week charged with 'cyber harassment' for referring to the President of Uganda, Yoweri  Museveni, as 'a pair of buttocks' in a Facebook post.

It was alleged that her comments contravened the 2011 Computer Misuse Act and that she engaged in 'cyber harassment' and 'offensive communication'.

One of Kenya’s most wanted terror suspects, Fatuma Mohamed Masou, who had a Sh2 million bounty on her head, was found dead in Kedong, Kenya.
She was the wife of slain terrorist Kassim Omondi, who was killed by police during a raid in 2013.
 On the run since September last year, her body was found in Kedong, near Naivasha, more than a month ago, but the police officers who stumbled upon her remains did not immediately identify her.

Four die as plane crashes into supermarket


Four people aboard a Swiss-registered light aircraft died when it crashed into a supermarket warehouse in the Lisbon suburbs on Monday, investigators said.
“There are four dead, the pilot and his three passengers,” a spokesman for Portugal’s Office of Prevention and Investigation of Aeronautical Accidents told AFP, saying further details about the incident and the fatalities were not immediately known.
The warehouse is located close to an aerodrome at Tires, in the district of Cascais. There was no immediate information as to whether there were any casualties in the building itself.

The Federal Government recorded over N7 trillion in the Treasury Single Account (TSA) towards the end of March 2017. Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Mr Ahmed Idris has said.

More facts emerged at the weekend on the cash haul at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was on the trail of some high-profile tenants when it found the $43.4 million, £27,000 and N23 million at House 6, Apartment 7B, it was learnt.
Four of the tenants have been quizzed; a petition is pending against the fifth.
The building, it was learnt, had been under surveillance because of the tenants.

A suspected child thief, Chibueze Nwaozuzu, has been arrested by the Imo State Police Command for allegedly stealing a six-year-old girl and selling her for N200,000.
The victim, Chinecherem Anoruo, had been declared missing by the parents, who reported the case to the police.


In the course of investigation, it was discovered that Nwaozuzu allegedly stole the child and sold her to one Comfort Umunnakwe.

Police officer arrested for releasing N4.1m exhibit to fraudster


A policeman attached to the Maroko Police Division, Lagos State, identified only as Sergeant Sunday, has been detained for allegedly releasing a sum of N4.1m recovered from a fraud suspect.


The policeman reportedly released the exhibit to the suspect, identified simply as Emmanuel, who in turn gave the money to one Kate, who is at large.

$5m scam: FBI offers $1000 to whistleblower on wanted Nigerian


The United States Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) has offered a paltry $1000 reward to whistleblowers who can offer information to arrest a Nigerian New Yorker, 32 year-old Kelechi Declan James.

The agency has declared Kelechi wanted for allegedly scamming victims of more than $5 million.

A statement on FBI website reads: “FBI agents are looking for the public’s assistance in locating Kelechi Declan James. He has federal criminal charges against him from an investigation by FBI New York’s Cyber Crime Task Force.”

The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria has sealed about 264 medicine stores in Enugu, Enugu State.
The outlets that were closed include 52 pharmacy shops and 212 patent medicine stores.
Director, Inspection and Monitoring Department of PCN, Mrs. Anthonia Aruya, who disclosed this at a press briefing in Enugu, said the concerned outlets were sealed for failing to comply with the stipulated standards required for dispensing drugs to members of the public.

The traditional ruler of Iyani Akoko in the Ondo State, Oba Joel Sunday Daodu has been kidnapped over the weekend by unknown gunmen from his car on a highway.
