Woman dies after mistakenly taking poisoned prepared for husband


An attempt by a frustrated housewife in Atumaga Community in Delta State to get her husband to fulfill his conjugal duties at the weekend backfired after she reportedly ate an egusi (melon) soup laced with a poisonous charm she procured from a native doctor.

Leadership reports that the housewife identified as Egwoli (surname withheld) had complained of abandonment -that her husband has not been making love to her since they got married two years ago.

 18 year old Malawian woman, Linda Phulani is currently in a critical condition after her live-in-lover John Yasini beat her mercilessly over allegations of infidelity.

According to Malawi Nation, Linda moved in with John in January this year without her parents consent. After she moved in, John banned her from going to visit her friends and family and became abusive. On the day of the brutal beating which was Thursday April 16th, Linda had gone out without his permission to a neighboring village to see some friends.

3.2m Nigerians Live With HIV

The Society for Family Health says more than 3.2 million Nigerians are still living with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
Bright Ekweremadu, the Managing Director of the society, said this on Thursday in Abuja at a forum to mark the end of Enhancing Nigeria’s Response (ENR) to HIV and AIDS programme.
He solicited realistic programmes to fight the virus, insisting that with the prevalent rate, much had to be done to tackle the menace.
“There have been tremendous improvements in addressing and halting the HIV and AIDS burden in Nigeria, there is still a lot to be done especially in regard to expanding access to services,” he said.

According to Ekweremadu, the ENR is one of Nigeria’s largest HIV/AIDS grants.

Fake Lawyer Arrested In Court In Lagos


The police at Ojokoro Division have arrested a 34-year-old man who has been parading himself as a legal practitioner in Lagos State, western Nigeria.

The suspect, Mathew Olayeye, was arrested at Ojokoro Magistrates’ Court on Thursday where he was facing another criminal charge.
His arrest followed a report by Barrister Seyi Olawumi, the General Secretary of Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Ikeja branch, Lagos, that he was an impostor.

APC Will Know I’m An Attack Dog – Adamu Mu’azu


The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, has said PDP will not go into any alliance with the incoming administration of the opposition All Progressives Congress. He has promised that instead of being friendly with the incoming government of Muhammadu Buhari, the APC will know that he, as the PDP chairman, is an attack dog. Mu’azu, who made the declaration while answering questions from journalists in Umuahia, Abia State, after his visit to Governor Theodore Orji on Thursday night, said PDP would rather give a tough opposition to APC from May 29 after the latter takes over power.

A 32-year-old cleric, Pastor Abel Benard Aniude of Trimphant Kings Assembly, Enugu, has been nabbed by police detec­tives in Enugu for allegedly duping a 25-year-old lady, Ojiaku Chiamaka of N4 million.

The pastor was said to have wooed Chia­maka on facebook in December 2013 and promised her marriage. Using preparations for the marriage as a bait, the clergy alleg­edly swindled the lady over N4 million.


He was arrested by police detectives at his No 42 Odudukoko street, Gariki Awku­nanaw, Enugu State on April 13 following complaints filed by the victim.

Nigerian Woman Steals £17,000 From UK Employers For Luxury Wedding


A convicted fraudster stole £17,000 from the City firm where she worked after she started embezzling money on her second day in the job.

Gabrielle Yinka Saunders, 32, used company credit cards to pay for her £10,000 wedding, as well as a £5,000 honeymoon in the Seychelles.

She was arrested at Heathrow when she returned from the honeymoon - but now she has been spared jail even though a court heard that she had been convicted of fraud twice previously.
