Lagos, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Rivers recorded the highest number of complaints against police officers by members of the public.
The Public Compliant Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU) disclosed this in its 2017 first quarter report released in Abuja Thursday.
According to the report, the Unit received 498 cases between January and March this year from various parts of the country.

The Ludhiana police on Wednesday, May 17th, arrested two Nigerian nationals identified as Celestine Ikeweta (37) and Edeh Sunday Chukwudi, 29, from Delhi for supplying drugs in Punjab and recovered 2kg heroin from two places in the district after their interrogation.

Deputy inspector general (Ludhiana range) Yurinder Singh Hayer said that during investigation of a previous case in which an accused, Balvir Singh, was arrested with heroin, it was found that two Nigerians, residing at Vikas Puri in New Delhi, are the suppliers of the drugs.

MTN In Fresh Trouble, Fined $8.5million


Rwanda’s telecom industry regulator has fined MTN Rwanda, a division of South Africa’s MTN Group, 7 billion francs (8.5 million dollars) for running its IT services outside the country in breach of its licence.
 
The regulator said in a ruling posted on its website in Kigali that MTN Rwanda was hosting its IT services hub in Uganda, which it had prohibited.

A former Acting State Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, Bayelsa State, Mr. Christopher Hobobo, has been assassinated.

According to Punch, Hobobo was murdered at his residence on PDP Road, Yenagoa, the state capital.

Hobobo until his death hailed from Agbere town in Sagbama Local Government Area of the state was allegedly stabbed to death by unknown assassins in the early hours of Wednesday.

42-year-old Woman Kills Her Niece, Buries Body in Backyard


Gladys Sibanda, a 42-year-old Zimbabwean mother of four from Bulawayo’s Pumula South suburb allegedly killed her four-year-old niece and buried the body at a house she was renting.

According to The Chronicle, Gladys Sibanda is suspected to have killed Thandeka Moyo last year on December 9.

Police exhumed the body on Monday after Sibanda allegedly gave conflicting statements about her niece’s whereabouts.
