A 200- level undergraduate student of Mass Communications at the Cross River State University, Joy Odama,whose mother claimed she was killed by an Alhaji, died after inhaling carbon monoxide. This is according to the police autopsy report revealed on Thursday.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday, sentenced 64-year-old Odeyemi Omolola, who is charged before the court alongside a Lagos socialite, Mrs. Funmilola Ogbuaya, also known as Funmilola Ogundipe, popularly known in social circles as Ariket, to 25 years imprisonment, for attempting to export 1.595 kilogrammes of cocaine to Saudi Arabia.

Trial judge, Justice Hadizat Rabiu-Shagari sentenced the convict, who is also known as Ariyo Monsurat Olabisi, after she changed her plea in an amended five counts of the charge.

Court Sentences Retired VP To Life Imprisonment For Raping 12-Year Old Girl


An Ekiti State High Court, Ado Ekiti, has sentenced a retired vice principal at St. Mary’s Girls Grammar School, Ikole-Ekiti, Taiwo Ajayi, to life imprisonment for raping a 12-year-old pupil of the school.

The court found Ajayi guilty of raping a minor contrary to Section 31(2) of the Child Rights Law of Ekiti State, 2012.

Saraki: Ilorin court slams N4bn damage on Sahara Reporters


An Ilorin High Court, presided over by Justice Adeyinka Oyinloye, has ruled that the publisher of online newspaper, Sahara Reporters, Mr Omoyele Sowore, should pay a sum of N4 billion as damage to the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, over a series of libelous stories published last year by the medium.
According to the judgment passed on Wednesday, the ruling affected stories published by the online medium against Saraki between September and December 2015.

Despite the autopsy report saying Joy Odama died of carbon monoxide poisoning, the police will still prosecute Alhaji Usman Adamu.

Her family alleged the 200 level student of Cross River State University of Science and Technology was  murdered by one Alhaji Usman on December 20, 2016 at his guesthouse in Karmo, a community it he Federal Capital Territory.

Ogun College Suspends Lecturer For Impregnating Student Nurse


A lecturer with the Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese Ijebu, Dr Seyi Adu, has been indefinitely suspended by the college for allegedly having sex with a nursing student of the school, Mosunmola.
We learnt that the suspension was posted on a notice board at the administration block of the college, where the academic community was asked not to have any dealings with him.

Our correspondent had reported that Adu and Mosunmola had sex in a hotel sometime in August 2016, which both parties did not deny.

A 19-year-old woman allegedly stabbed a 14-year-old girl to death at a gas station in revenge for bullying and tormenting her younger sister for years, Dailymail reported. The woman identified as Tiffany James allegedly stabbed schoolgirl Madison Branch in the stomach in the Portland neighborhood, in Oregon. 

UK deports 28 Nigerians


The Government of the United Kingdom on Thursday deported 28 Nigerians for committing immigration-related offences in the country.
The Nigerians were sent back home barely 48 hours after 23 Nigerians were deported from Spain and five days after another batch of 34 were jointly deported by the governments of Switzerland, Germany, Iceland, Austria, Belgium and Hungary.

Detectives said Marissa Ashley Mowry started the sexual relationship in January 2014 when she was 22 and the boy was only 11 years old, WTSP reports.

Man beats wife to death over food in Osun


There was pandemonium in Oke-Odo area of Wooru Estate in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State when an undisclosed middle aged man allegedly beat his wife to death.

Boy whose uncle drove nail into his head discharged against medical advice


Eight-year-old Friday Paul, whose paternal uncle tortured and allegedly drove three-inch nail into his skull, has been discharged from hospital against medical advice.

This came after a representative of Lagos Child Protection Network, visited Sagamu Road Police Division, Ikorodu, where the suspect, Mr. Ifeanyi Paul, was being detained.
The Divisional Police Officer, DPO, was said to have dismissed the matter, claiming it was mere fiction and that the suspect had no case to answer.

President Buhari On Life Support- Fayose

Sale prices for second-hand private jets fall by 35%


Billionaires and larger corporates have had tens of millions of dollars wiped off the value of their business jets, as massive oversupply in the run-up to the 2008-2009 credit crisis in Europe has left the industry awash with pre-owned aircraft.
Prices for second-hand private jets, many of which have barely been flown, have dropped as much as 35 per cent over three years to the end of April. The average price of a pre-owned business jet has fallen from $13.7m in April 2014 to $8.9m, according to research by Colibri Aircraft, which specialises in the marketing, resale and purchase of pre-owned private aircraft.

Gulf states considering new Qatar sanctions – UAE envoy


A Saudi-led bloc is considering fresh sanctions against Qatar that may include asking trading partners to choose between them or Doha, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) ambassador to Russia said.
In an interview with The Guardian newspaper, envoy Omar Ghobash said the expulsion of Qatar from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) was “not the only sanction available” for the UAE and its allies.
