Ogun police nab 9 armed robbers, suspected rapist

The Ogun State Police Command said, yesterday, that it had arrested nine suspected armed robbers along Sagamu/Benin Expressway and Ilese in Ijebu Area of Ogun State.

The command also said it arrested a 19 year old Biodun Ogunyobi for allegedly raping a 17 year old girl (names withheld) at Mile 2, along Ayetoro Road in Abeokuta.

China ‘To Cover the Entire World with Surveillance Satellites’

CHINA is considering a plan to cover the entire world with a network of surveillance satellites.

If it went ahead the plan could see more than 50 observation satellites in orbit within two years, The South China Morning Post reported. This would put the country’s satellite surveillance capabilities on a par, or greater than, the US.

State Security Service (SSS) officials are questioning detained Boko Haram suspects to ascertain if external collaborators were involved in Sunday’s failed —and bloody —jailbreak.
Twenty-one suspects died in the attempted jailbreak at the Abuja SSS facility, according to the Service.

Fashola writes Ghana over killing of Nigerian student

Gov. Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State on Monday said he had e-mailed the Ghanaian Parliament, requesting it to investigate the recent killing of a Nigerian student in that country.
The governor made the statement in Ikeja, while addressing some students who had come to protest against the hike in Lagos State University fees.

A boy in Daya Village, Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State, on Monday, killed his younger brother and removed the victim’s tongue and eyes, residents said.

A resident of Daya, Ishmail Daya, told PREMIUM TIMES, that the younger boy had gone missing three days ago and that while a search was going on in the village, the older brother was found with his brother’s tongue and eyes.

A staff of an electricity distribution company has been electrocuted in Idimu- Ikotun, Lagos, western Nigeria.
Labiru Badmus: Electrocuted in Ikotun

The 42-year old victim, Labiru Badmus, was assigned to carry out some repairs on an electricity pole in the area and after he climbed the pole, electricity supply was restored and he was electrocuted.

One dies as police, OPC clash in Lagos

Members of the Oodua People’s Congress and policemen clashed at the Tolu Police Division, Ajegunle, Lagos State on Saturday evening.

One member of the OPC, identified as Dauda Apampa, lost his life, while a police corporal, identified simply as Emeka, sustained gunshot in the incident.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the fracas was caused by a disagreement over the release of an unidentified man from OPC’s custody.

Court denies alleged serial fraudster, Fred Ajudua, bail

A Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja has turned down the bail request of Fred Ajudua, alleged 419 kingpin.

Justice Kudirat Jose said that Mr. Ajudua’s antecedents – accusations of jumping bail in 2006 and tampering with evidence – were responsible for the denial of his bail application.

The £300,000 top-end vehicle has been filmed being driven aggressively in the past with flames firing out of its uprated exhaust.

But it was turned into a depressing wreck yesterday afternoon after suffering serious frontal damage with bits of its bodywork strewn all over the road. The Lamborghini was involved in the crash with a BMW and a Mazda 5. The matte black super car collidedwith the Mazda, then hit a stationary BMW, badly damaging the front of the car.

About 22 insurgents were feared killed during a the Sunday morning fierce shootout at the headquarters of the State Security Service, SSS, located less than 30 meters from the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
