Another Container-load of Arms Found in Tin Can Island Port in Lagos


Another container filled with arms has been discovered at the Tin Can Island Port in Lagos, the Nigeria Customs exclusively disclosed to Premium Times on Tuesday.
 
A source at the port told said the container was found at the Ports and Cargo Terminal of the Tin Can Island Ports.

The two had been in a relationship while the victim was leaving in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, before she dumped him and relocated to Yenagoa.

Actor Sir Roger Moore, best known for playing James Bond, has died aged 89, his family has announced. He played the famous spy in seven Bond films including 'Live and Let Die' and the 'Spy Who Loved Me'.
 
Sir Roger's family confirmed the news on Twitter, saying he had died after "a short but brave battle with cancer". The statement, from his children, read: "Thank you Pops for being you, and being so very special to so many people."

Workers Poised For Showdown Over N48bn Promotion Arrears


Civil servants in the employ of the Federal Government are poised for a showdown with their employers following the non-payment of their promotion arrears totalling N48 billion.
 
As at last year, N12.3 billion was reportedly provided as virement in the 2016 budget for the settlement of part of the arrears that was due to workers who got their promotions in 2013.
 
However, New Telegraph learnt that the money was not released for payment to the concerned civil servants. The workers, a correspondent gathered, are currently mobilizing to picket the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Budget and National Planning and the National Assembly.

Theunis Botha, 51, was hunting with a group in Gwai, Zimbabwe, when they came across a breeding herd of elephants.

Suspected robbers killed a freelance photo-journalist, Samuel Ekerendu, in the early hours of Sunday. They invaded his apartment at Enen Abasi Street, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
It was gathered that the robbers, midnight on Sunday, ravaged the Ayayatie Street, close to Itam Motor Park, few metres away from the “D” Division of the Nigerian Police, before proceeding to Itam West in continuation of their operation.

Justice Mojisola Olaterogun of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court has fixed September 24 for hearing in the application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, seeking a final forfeiture order of $5.8m allegedly belonging to Patience Jonathan, wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The adjournment came following a Court of Appeal order on stay of proceedings sought by Mrs. Jonathan.

Indonesian police have arrested 140 men, including a British and a Singaporean on suspicion of having a 'gay sex party' at a sauna in the capital Jakarta late on Sunday.

Confirming the arrest to BBC Indonesian, Police spokesman Argo Yuwono said the 141 men were detained for questioning in the Sunday raid at the gym and sauna in north Jakarta.
