NYSC Member Divorces Her Husband in Jos, Refunds N80,000 Dowry


A serving member of the National Youth Service Corps has divorced her husband, refunding her dowry to the man.

The marriage between 27-year-old Rukayat Ahmed, an NYSC member, and Alkasim Ahmed, has been dissolved by a Jos Upper Area Court on Thursday following a petition filed by the former.

Personnel of the Nigeria Army, Department of State Services, and Nigeria Police Force collected $115m bribe from the embattled former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke in ordder to compromise the 2015 general elections.
The Economic and Financial Commission has named some of the individuals and public officials who collected the alleged bribe.

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, has stated that Nigeria needs about $1.2 billion to repair the three refineries of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
The minister, who spoke at a news briefing in Abuja on Thursday, said reports of the concession of Port Harcourt refinery to Oando and Agip companies were untrue.

The Senate yesterday passed the Witness Protection Bill, which recommended two year jail term or N500, 000 fine for any insincere witness.

The bill sponsored by late Senator Isiaka Adeleke seeks to enable certain persons receive protection in relation to certain information, evidence or other assistance rendered to law enforcement agencies during enquiries, investigation or prosecution under the bill.

Ikorodu-based pastor kills 7-year-old, ‘buries head on church’s altar’


The police in Lagos, on Thursday arrested a pastor for allegedly beheading a seven-year old boy and burying his head at the church’s altar.

Olarinde Famous-Cole, the command’s spokesman, confirmed the arrest to reporters, saying the suspect was arrested with an accomplice.

Famous-Cole said the policemen arrested one Eric, whose confession led to the arrest of the pastor and the recovery of the boy’s body.

A Nigerian national has been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Chandigarh Zonal Unit for drug trafficking.

The suspect, Eze Uchenna James, a resident of New Delhi, was arrested with 415 gram Heroin, near Mela Ground in Sector 17 late Wednesday evening, June 7th.

9-month-old baby goes missing in South Africa after mother 'borrowed' the child to a neighbour


A 25-year-old South African mother is presently heartbroken and shattered as her 9month old baby has been missing for five days.

Abongile Nojahi, the unemployed mother claims she had let her 17-year-old neighbour, Zanele Mchunu “borrow” her son on Saturday and since then she hasn't set her eyes on her child nor the neighbour whose phone has been out of reach.

Lionel Messi has purchased a four-star hotel in Sitges, a beach town not far down the coast from Barcelona. According to information in 'Expansion', Messi has paid 30 million euros for the hotel.  The four-star hotel has 77 rooms -- five of which are junior suites and one of which is a superior suite -- and is situated in the second line of buildings from the sea.

Android creator’s phone startup raises $300 Million


Essential, a startup run by the creator of Google’s Android, added $300 million to its war chest as it looks to break into the highly competitive field of consumer electronics.
The financing round valued Essential at $900 million to $1 billion, according to an analysis by Equidate, which runs a market for private company stock. Essential submitted paperwork on the new investments in late May, a few days before co-founder Andy Rubin unveiled the first two products: a high-end smartphone and an Amazon Echo-like gadget for the home. Investors in the deal weren’t disclosed. A spokesman for Essential declined to comment.
