Mugabe's Wife Sues Trader Over $1.3m Diamond Ring

The wife of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has sued a Lebanese businessman for failing to deliver a US$1.35-million diamond ring she ordered for her wedding anniversary, state media reported on Wednesday.

"First lady Dr Grace Mugabe is suing fugitive businessman Mr Jamal Joseph Ahmed for US$1.23 million over a diamond ring deal that went sour last year," The Herald newspaper said.

A bill removing the age limit for the president was introduced in parliament last month, and MPs are currently holding consultations with ordinary Ugandans to seek their views.

Two injured in South African airport shooting

Police on Wednesday said that two men were injured in a drive-by shooting at South Africa’s Cape Town International Airport.

Police spokesperson Vish Naidoo said that operations at the airport, the second busiest in the country and a tourism hub, were not affected.

The Wa Circuit Court has sentenced a former teller at the Wa branch of Stanbic Bank to 10 years imprisonment with hard labor for stealing ¢287,000 (N23 million) belonging to the bank, reports MyJoy Ghana.

Presiding over the case, Justice Forson Baah Agyapong found Abdulai Rahman, 29, who was responsible for mobile money electronic transactions at the bank guilty.
