A resident of Ogbunike community, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, Mr. Ndubisi Oye who is said to be preparing for his wedding on Sunday was allegedly killed by Local vigilante in the area.

His killing has sparked a spate of destruction, as friends of the deceased have destroyed properties worth worth millions, belonging to the leader of the vigilante group.

Senators yesterday directed two commercial banks to unfreeze some accounts belonging to companies linked to former First Lady Patience Jonathan.

Mr. Khamenei spoke five days after U.S. President Donald Trump adopted a harsh new approach to Iran by refusing to certify its compliance with the deal, reached under Mr. Trump’s predecessor, Barack Obama, and saying he might ultimately terminate it.

Ten senior policemen transferred out of Lagos command


The Police Service Commission (PSC), under the chairmanship of Sir Mike Okiro, yesterday, approved and released a signal, detailing the immediate transfer of 10 senior policemen out of Lagos State Police Command.

One of those transferred is the embattled former Officer-in-Charge, Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Cultism Squad, State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, CSP Akinade Adejobi.

Reps want FRSC officers to bear arms


The House of Representatives said yesterday that officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) should bear arms in a bid to effectively carry out their responsibilities of saving lives.

The Green Chamber noted the increasing cases of violent attacks, harassment and intimidation of personnel and officers of the FRSC by highly placed individuals, motorists and hoodlums across the country, particularly in Zamfara, Jigawa, Abia and Lagos states.

Justice Babatunde Quadri of Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday adjourned trial of former Governor of Jigawa, Sule Lamido, until November 15.

Lamido is being prosecuted alongside his two sons, Aminu and Mustapha, and two others by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 27-count charge bordering on abuse of office and money laundering.

Tanzanian police said Wednesday they had arrested 12 men, including two South Africans and a Ugandan, for presumed homosexuality as part of an ongoing crackdown against gays.

“We arrested the criminals at (the hotel) Peacock — they were promoting homosexuality. Two are South Africans, one Ugandan and nine Tanzanians,” Dar es Salaam police head Lazaro Mambosasa said at a weekly press conference.
